Lapped all around by the Indian Ocean waves, visitors of The Manta Resort's floating underwater suite frequently wake up to discover reef fish and octopuses ogling them as they recline in their extremely comfy king-size bed. This unique underwater chamber, located 820 feet (250 meters) offshore from the luxury resort on Pemba Island, is on the bottom floor of a three-story floating building that also includes a salon and bathroom above sea level.

Diners sit next to full-length glass windows that overlook the beautiful corals and twirling fish while they eat (you guessed it) high-quality seafood.

In addition to its beautiful underwater world, the so-called "groundscraper" hotel includes other surprising elements, such as a rock-climbing wall that mounts the quarry's rock face and a massive glass "waterfall" atrium that runs the length of the quarry. The Intercontinental Shanghai Wonderland also has impressive green credentials: the majority of the electricity is renewable, and the architects picked this location to conserve the natural scenery. The ceiling is covered with flora to make it fit in with the surrounding landscape.

Singapore’s resorts World Sentosa is one of Asia's largest theme parks, including notable attractions such as the S.E.A. Aquarium and Adventure Cove Waterpark. This adventure playground includes 11 Ocean Suites, which allow visitors to escape into an underwater paradise. The bedroom's floor-to-ceiling windows open with the push of a button, and the lights darken automatically, providing the ideal view into one of the world's largest aquariums.

If you thought sleeping inside a gigantic aquarium was remarkable, imagine sleeping on the world's largest tropical coral reef. Two new glass-walled hotel rooms have opened beneath the waters of Australia's Coral Sea, providing marine enthusiasts with a view of the Great Barrier Reef's many treasures. The Reef suites, billed as Australia's first underwater hotel, launched in December 2019 right off Hardy Reef near the Whitsunday archipelago.

When visitors are not peeking out to observe what's going on in the lagoon's vast ecology, they meet in the shared living room chamber to dine and even watch Netflix. A highlight of a visit must be the gourmet meal (for luxury stays) or pizza, which is hand delivered in a water-tight box and eaten while seahorses, angelfish, parrotfish, barracuda, and snappers peer through the portholes. Previous diving experience is not required to stay here, however. A sleepover is accessible to anybody over the age of ten who has completed the Discover Scuba course and can safely travel to their room with a diving instructor as their guide.
